Coursera was founded in 2012 by Andrew Ng & Daphne Koller, professors at Stanford University, and now connects over 300 institutions (universities and businesses) including IBM & Google for online courses with options that include: certificates & bachelor's/master's degrees. Students have the ability to study through self-paced video lectures, projects, guided programs and focus on getting industry-recognized skills that will help them obtain employment within a very competitive economic climate. Coursera has been very successful at providing affordable, easy-to-find and trusted resources to help provide the knowledge needed to accelerate an individual's career from wherever they may currently reside in the world as part of their overall effort to provide equal opportunity access to an education for all individuals.
